Responsible for preparing quarterly and annual statutory financial statements in accordance with statutory accounting principles and state, federal and NAIC regulations. Provide management with financial information and analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare quarterly and annual statutory financial statements
- Prepare, maintain, and distribute monthly, quarterly, and year end checklist schedules
- Develop analysis of financial results to management
- Update and revise quarterly and annual statement systems and procedures
- Update and revise systems used for collecting and reporting information
- Determine proper accounting treatment of unusual financial events
- Keep updated on statutory reporting requirements
- Prepare entries for monthly reporting
- Assist Financial Reporting Manager with special projects
- Assist Financial Reporting Manager with reinsurance reconciliations
- Prepare and process corporate state filings
- Act as liaison for external auditors
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA or MBA desirable
- Minimum 2 years of public accounting or financial industry accounting experience required
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Advanced Excel
- Understanding statutory accounting in insurance preferred
- Experience working in general ledger and reporting software preferred
