OVERVIEW:

Working within a team environment, the Drug Benefit Analyst is responsible for maintaining current and accurate drug product information, reporting regarding drug products, and contributing to activities essential to effective management of the drug benefit lists and drug plan designs.

The successful candidate will have strong analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, along with an outstanding commitment to providing exceptional service. This position reports to the Manager, Pharmaceutical Product & Pricing Administration in the Clinical Drug Services Department. This is a 12-month temporary work from home position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Obtains, interprets and evaluates drug product information to determine coverage eligibility on Alberta Blue Cross plans.
  • Responsible for communicating with drug manufacturers to obtain timely product information.
  • Liaises with a variety of external customers; i.e. drug manufacturers, marketing representatives, wholesalers.
  • Investigates drug product supply and assesses the removal and application of policies such as Least Cost Alternative (LCA), to support inquiries and maintain the product availability database.
  • Provides support, expertise and resolution to ad hoc inquiries from internal departments.
  • Provides reports on drug products.
  • Obtains and maintains additional information regarding drugs; including pricing, scheduling, and manufacturer information.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician/Assistant Program or related work experience would be an asset.
  • Strong computer skills; i.e. Microsoft Access, Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills are required.
  • Strong analytic, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and proven ability to multi-task.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and work with minimum supervision in a team environment.
  • Must be accurate and pay close attention to detail.
  • Must be a strong team player.
  • Schedule flexibility is required when there are deadlines so some overtime may be required.
