Job Description:

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Thunderbird Executive Education (EE), the Manager of Marketing and Communications – Executive Education, is responsible for developing and implementing marketing plan activities and solutions, both strategic and tactical, for Thunderbird Executive Education within Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. This includes directing all digital lead generation strategies and digital paid advertising campaigns; develops, administers, and oversees marketing strategies and marketing plans, including consistent branding, advertising, direct marketing, promotion development, and internet marketing; establishes relationships with key partners; plans and oversees the development of promotional materials and activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail; plans and administers the program’s marketing operating budget with the goal of making efficient marketing investments. This position is responsible for generating, nurturing, and converting high-quality leads which contribute to revenue growth for Executive Education Open Enrollment programs.Leads development of the program’s visual presentations, invitations, etc.; works with key administrators to ensure marketing consistency. This position is also responsible for leading Executive Education brand identity initiatives, and monitoring the internal and external use of logos, marks, color palette and general adherence and compliance with the Brand Identity Guide. This position will lead sales initiatives and collaborate with a sales team and other departments to ensure marketing strategies complement overall business goals.This position will play a pivotal role in steering Thunderbird Executive Education’s strategic marketing initiatives. This position requires a seasoned professional capable of developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility, drive customer engagement, and ultimately contribute to the program’s growth via sales of enrollments in Executive Education Open Enrollment programs. The ideal candidate should possess a blend of strategic thinking, creative flair, and a proven track record in achieving marketing objectives. This position is a manager-level role but also requires front-line work as the individual will direct, manage, supervise, and at times design and execute initiatives related to paid and digital marketing, brand strategy and compliance, for local, domestic and international audiences. A successful candidate for this position is a natural marketer/communicator with an eye for creativity, and a global mindset. Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for generating, nurturing and converting high-quality leads and contribute to revenue growth for Executive Education Open Enrollment programs.
  • Develops, administers, and oversees marketing strategies and marketing plans, including consistent branding, advertising, direct marketing, promotion development, and internet marketing.
  • Supports the open enrollment programs and executive education team with innovative concepts, and marketing program/promotions.
  • Monitors competitive providers and marketing activities.
  • Conducts and oversees market research activities, adjusting marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Establishes relationships with key customers/partners, secures solid sales pipeline in an effort to garner enrollment in open enrollment programs.
  • Plans and oversees the development of promotional materials and activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail.
  •  Oversees writing and production of electronic newsletters.
  • Works within defined budget parameters and assists in the annual budgeting process.
  • Oversees business development activities and assist in the strategic planning for presentations, invitations, etc.
  • Develops and administers marketing database and conduct ROI for marketing EE programs.
  • Designs and plans marketing training for the EE team.
  • Work with EE leadership to ensure marketing consistency.
  • Oversees the Executive Education web pages from a marketing content stand point (versus IT), identifying information needs and developing content to fill these, ensuring timely posting of programs, and ensuring continuous improvement. 
  • Works closely with other members of the Branding and Communications team to raise awareness of Thunderbird programs and initiatives, while meeting brand and messaging standards.
  • Serves as principal contact for external firms related to digital lead generation including ASU agency of record, and other related creative and marketing service contractors. Works fluidly with other resources and can, at times, interface with executive-level staff, sales team, external vendors, etc.
  • May supervise a small staff and/or students, and work collaboratively with others.
  • Presents information about Thunderbird Executive Education to interested parties using a variety of presentation formats, including oral and visual presentations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of publication format and editorial practices, including writing for print and electronic mediums.
  • Experience in digital marketing, preferable in higher education and/or for international audiences.
  • Experience and proven success in implementing and measuring the impact of paid search, paid social, video and display campaigns, as well as SEM, programmatic, and SEO.
  • Experience implementing all aspects of marketing operations, including: account segmentation, scoring, nurturing, advertising, automation, progressive profiling.
  • Basic knowledge of Salesforce CRM software.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, CTM, and Google Data Studio, Google Ads.
  • Experience in the design and optimization of landing pages.
  • Knowledge and understanding of AP style writing.
  • Ability to lead budget planning, monitoring and execution.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective marketing and branding activities, methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of national media sources including print, television, radio.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of coordinating and supervising the work activities of others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning and organization.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.
  • Experience in project and budget management.
  • Experience in developing, establishing and maintaining effective relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Drive innovative multi-channel marketing strategies, with a focus on executing successful lead generation campaigns.
  • Strong evidence of marketing automation, account-based marketing (ABM), and customer experience mapping. Implementing one-to-few and one-to-many ABM campaigns across diverse geographies (programmatic ads, personalized emails, and A/B & multivariate testing)
  • Strong evidence of a thorough understanding of the Thunderbird brand and unique nuances to the brand identity.
  • Evidence of successfully building and optimizing marketing technology stacks to support various stages of the sales and marketing funnel; this proficiency in technology includes a keen understanding of marketing automation platforms, account-based marketing tools, and customer relationship management systems.

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
