The Role
The Manager, Organizational Design & Effectiveness is a position in our Organizational Design and Effectiveness (OD+OE) team. In this position, you will lead the definition and management of the company’s job architecture and engage in strategic, company-wide org design and effectiveness initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
The Manager will be a key partner to the Director of Org Design and Effectiveness and will be the day-to-day lead on all efforts related to Netflix’s Job Architecture. This leader will drive the program roadmap, oversee continuous improvements and optimization efforts, and serve as the lead for all deployment projects. This leader will work closely with HRBPs, Compensation Partners, Talent Experience Operations, other Talent groups, and the business to drive job architecture priorities. Additionally, this leader will actively contribute to other organizational design and effectiveness projects for the company. This person must be able to:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for job architecture and manage a forward-looking roadmap for the continued evolution of the company’s job architecture.
- Oversee the development, design, and cross-functional implementation of job architecture programs and initiatives. Serve as the accountable program lead, ensuring these projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with leadership and stakeholder needs.
- Utilize advanced analytical skills to analyze employee data, employing statistical methods and data modeling techniques, while collaborating with other teams to gather, interpret, and report complex datasets.
- Work closely with HRBPs, centralized Talent functions, and senior leaders to understand business needs and ensure the job architecture meets organizational requirements.
- Work with HRBPs and the Compensation team to regularly review and update the job architecture to reflect changes in the business environment and workforce dynamics.
- Partner with the Talent Experience Operations and Talent Technology teams to manage the ongoing maintenance of job definition attributes.
- Work with the Director of Org Design and Effectiveness and HR partners to support organizational design projects and help evaluate and suggest design solutions.
- Support the implementation of organizational design proposals by working with HR partners and business leaders.
- Deliver training sessions to internal teams to support Netflix’s Talent strategies.
Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
The OD+OE team serves as internal consultants for the company’s leadership, and this individual must have practical experience consulting and working with business leaders. The OD+OE team drives impact through expertise and influence, and by partnering with cross-functional teams inside and outside of the Talent organization. To be successful in this role the leader must have the following qualifications:
- Possess a deep set of skills and experience developing and deploying job architecture designs (experience in Media and Technology companies is a plus).
- A working understanding of organizational design and experience in organizational effectiveness efforts focused on increasing performance or better managing resource investments.
- A strong track record in leading large-scale, cross-functional projects that deliver results.
- A strategic thinker with strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity about the media industry, Netflix’s business, and ways to improve company performance.
- Very strong data analysis skills and ability to use advanced spreadsheet capabilities to derive insights from semi-structured data sets. Able to represent these insights in easy-to-understand reports or visualizations.
- High-degree of detail orientation and ability to develop sound quality deliverables with minimal supervision.
- A reputation for executional excellence and ability to self-manage through ambiguous situations.
- Strong written and verbal communication and ability to adjust communication approach for various audiences (by seniority, location, function, etc.)
- Strong understanding of change management and experience in managing change efforts in large projects.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive cross-functional relationships.
- A structured approach to problem-solving and critical thinking, especially in high-stakes, deadline-driven environments.
- Experience using internal and external benchmarking and survey data to derive insights to support executive decision-making
- Awareness of third-party vendors and solutions to support the function’s mission (e.g. compensation survey vendors, benchmark providers, leading consulting firms).
- Years of experience: ~7-10 yrs
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $170,000 – $420,000.
