Overview of the Role

  • The Payroll Administrator will work closely with the People Operations Senior Manager and primarily be responsible for processing and managing the administration of bi-weekly payroll in ADP Workforce Now, assist with the administration of employee benefit programs and services, primarily focused monthly billing reconciliation for benefit programs, and act as the first point of contact for all payroll, and benefit inquiries.
  • This position requires someone who has strong attention to detail, effective communication and problem-solving abilities, prior history of managing multiple payrolls, the ability deal with sensitive and highly confidential information in a productive and organized way.
  • Location: Remote; if local to Schaumburg, IL hybrid schedule is observed, must be in office Tuesday & Thursday

What You’ll do at C.A. Carlin

  • Process, review, and balance bi-weekly payroll utilizing ADP’s Workforce Now payroll system for roughly 400 employees
  • Ensure payroll transactions are processed correctly for time, earnings, benefits, deductions, taxes, including federal, state, and local wage, and hour laws, garnishments, and other items that affect pay &/or company liability
  • Audit to ensure accurate calculation of wages, bonuses, company deductions, and tax withholdings. Analyze various reports to ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Assist managers with timecard issues prior to processing to ensure that all employees are paid correctly and timely
  • Provide the highest level of customer service as needed and respond to a variety of payroll inquiries in a timely manner, including but not limited to garnishment and child support verifications
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefit programs and services, primarily focused on employee health and welfare plans and the delivery and administration of other total rewards programs, including 401(k)
  • Monthly finance reporting
  • Compile, analyze, and report on data, as needed
  • Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and reports necessary or suggested changes
  • Coordinate and conduct regular Total Reward program training sessions to keep employees and management teams informed on company total reward offerings
  • Maintain Total Reward email inbox by investigating and resolving potential issues and responding to employee questions and concerns

What You Should Bring to the Table

  • 1-3 years of experience in administering and managing multiple bi-weekly payrolls
  • Must have payroll experience with ADP Workforce Now
  • General understanding of employee benefits
  • Experience with end of year payroll reporting
  • Solid knowledge of payroll best practices and general accounting principles
  • Detail-oriented, organized and able to manage multiple priorities that may be constantly changing
  • Self-driven, flexible, and highly energetic with strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and collaboratively
  • Knowledge of Outlook resources and MS Office software including, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
