Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Remote)

We’re looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Senior DevOps Engineer to help shape our all-in-one privacy solution and join our mission to show the world that protecting your privacy online can be simple.

The Opportunity

This role supports everyone in the DuckDuckGo organisation – combining Developer Operations, Cloud Engineering and Infrastructure. You will collaborate with team members at all levels to provide tooling and automation to help us reach our objectives more quickly.

You’ll take ownership of major components of our internal infrastructure, ensuring they operate smoothly and continually seeking opportunities for improvement. You will create tools and processes that enhance our team’s productivity and increase the efficiency of our native applications (our privacy super apps!) development and deployment process.

You’ll also be part of the team’s shared on-call rotation for all internal services that our staff are reliant on. You’ll leverage your experience in debugging issues to solve problems, big and small. Your eye for detail will help us optimize our practices, improving how we support our global team. Currently after hours pages are infrequent and calls generally occur a few times a year and separate from our SRE team.

What You Will Bring to DuckDuckGo

Ability to lead and collaborate on high-impact and complex projects from proposal through post-mortem.

Skills to wrangle vague problems, propose innovative solutions, and execute them with a strong focus on metrics.

7+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or IT operations roles.

Intermediate programming ability in a high-level language (e.g., Perl or Python).

Experience and comfort on the Linux command line.

Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform).

Passion for helping people and enabling them to solve problems.

Compensation

Annual compensation: $176,000 USD and stock options. Compensation is the same within a professional level, regardless of geographic location or functional area, and the compensation for each professional level is transparent across the organization.
