About the role:
Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Research and Advisory business, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional, and/or global levels. Using exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to mission critical priorities. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day. They engage via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.
This analyst role sits within Gartner’s CIO and Industries Research, Government and Education Practice. The analyst will support CIOs and other technology executives in accelerating the use of technology, data, and artificial intelligence in government modernization and innovation.
What you will do:
- Track EMEA and global market trends, relevant vendors and emerging technologies to remain ahead of the curve within government technology best practices, the impact of emerging technologies and changing geopolitical uncertainties
- Write evidence-based content that is easily consumed, defensible and actionable.
- Deliver high-quality actionable advice to an executive client audience (e.g., CIOs, program executive officers, CTOs, etc.) through a variety of media.
- Create and deliver presentations for webinars, executive briefings and other client-facing events.
- Build credibility as a government technology and data expert representing Gartner Research and Advisory
- Deliver outstanding sales and service support to retain and grow the Gartner business.
- Actively participate in ideation and research community discussions and collaborate effectively with colleagues across our research community.
- Identify research process improvements or develop new processes that help the team and Research & Advisory provide excellent service delivery.
- Collaborate with a variety of peers to establish positions on topics impact Government CIOs and develop research
- Be a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team members
What you will need:
- 12+ years’ experience working as an information technology leader in two or more government organizations in different tiers or domains (human/social services, justice, public safety, social services, public transportation, local government).
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational skills: with the ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables.
- Demonstrate excellence in research.
- Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions.
- Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges.
- Strong communicator who can explain complex concepts concisely and simply.
- Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team
- Learning agility and adeptness with navigating highly matrixed environments
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Masters degree
- Prior experience in a product leader or a consulting role for technology service provider working with governament.
