Staff User Researcher, AI
Slack is where work happens. It’s a collaboration hub where the right people and the right information come together, helping everyone get work done. We’re looking for a seasoned researcher who can help shape the future of AI and AI agents on Slack — helping understand the needs this emerging technology can meet for users and teams and the opportunities AI agents hold for the future.

The Research & Analytics team aims to improve the product experience and maintain a customer-centered product development process at Slack through practical and impactful research on how people use Slack and what their needs are. The nature of our work covers every stage of the product development cycle — from the formative to the evaluative and everything in between. We’re looking for researchers who are passionate about technology, comfortable in a dynamic organization, have excellent communication and collaboration skills, and are focused squarely on improving our product and our business.

Slack has a positive, diverse, and supportive culture—we look for people who are curious, inventive, and work to be a little better every single day. In our work together, we aim to be smart, humble, hard working and collaborative. If this sounds like a good fit for you, why not build with us?

  • Plan and conduct practical, impactful, and rigorous research via a diverse set of methods throughout the entire product cycle
  • Build compelling evidence-based narratives within your own work and through synthesizing information from a variety of sources
  • Collaborate with other Researchers and Data Scientists to develop a full understanding of the customer and develop strategic perspectives on the product
  • Build bridges across and between product teams via your work, influencing broad swaths of the business, and also act as an internal evangelist for our customers, our users and product research.

What you should have

  • 7+ years of user research experience, with a faculty in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis
  • Experience designing and executing research projects across multiple teams in a fast-moving product organization
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, including experience partnering with senior product partners throughout the research process
  • Storytelling skills and an ability to frame insights into compelling narratives along with familiarity in creating effective design artifacts, frameworks, and other tools to help guide and align product teams
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and perform a wide variety of research-related tasks

Preferred qualifications:
