What We Do
Provides underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and customer(s), related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Serves as Corporate Underwriting’s primary liaison with First American’s international insurance groups
  • Provides support for the reinsurance program as a key contact with our rein insurance partners
  •  Analyzes underwriting and claims data to support the reinsurance program
  •  Participates with Home Office Senior Management in underwriter initiatives around product development, processes, underwriting policy and strategy
  •  Utilizes underwriting standards and guidelines to underwrite the issuance of title insurance.
  • Provides guidance to company personnel in the performance of real estate settlement services.
  • Issues underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes.
  •  Drafts underwriting standards and guidelines as directed.
  •  Serve on industry associations when called upon to do so
  •  Participates in underwriting meetings to communicate information related to underwriting and real estate settlement services.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Required Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure

  • Law degree preferred
  • Licensed to practice law, in good standing or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years title underwriting experience in combination with significant commercial real estate or other relative legal practice experienc

Knowledge and Skills/Technology Used

  • High level of title insurance and real estate knowledge is needed
  •  Familiarity with e-closing and remote online notary laws is beneficial
  •  Demonstrated advanced practical experience with concepts, practices and procedures of real estate title and settlement process
  •  Excellent leadership skills, leading by example, driving employee commitment through actions
  •   High level of business acumen, strategic ability, ability to develop others and influence change
  •  Exercises high degree of confidence, sound judgment and decision making
  •   Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure
  •   Ability to build relationships and create rapport
  •   Requires abstract thinking and creative solutions.
  •   Ability to ‘think outside the box’ and make unique yet sound decisions to resolve complex issues

Pay Range $151,575.00-$252,625.00 Annually

This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting.  Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location .
