The job in a nutshell

The Work Measurement / Talent Data Scientist is a newly created role in the Science & Assessment Innovation Center of Expertise, a part of the TestGorilla Product organization. We are a talented group of industrial and organizational psychologists, data and assessment scientists, psychometricians, researchers, and academics. We deliver leading edge, science-based assessment content, measurement insights and innovation and enhance TestGorilla’s core intellectual property, content, constructs, tests and reporting. We strive to continually strengthen the quality and scientific underpinnings of our talent evaluation and decision-support tools as we connect skilled candidates with dream jobs, and organizations with skilled talent.

We are looking for an open-minded, tech-savvy professional to support the future of hiring beyond traditional roles and through leveraging AI and modern technologies. As a Work Measurement / Talent Data Scientist, you will contribute to our hiring philosophy and help shape the future of work and skills-based hiring. This role blends your expertise in I-O psychology with cutting-edge data science to tackle the challenges of AI-powered talent insights. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of how we leverage data and technology to understand and assess skills for optimal talent matching and decision-making.

You will bring innovation, creativity, and subject matter expertise in IO psychology, work measurement, data science and/or analytics to both understand people and jobs and support the creation of matching algorithms that appropriately connect people and jobs. You will also support our expansion into related domains such as exploring new methods and innovations in talent matching, evaluation tools, test development, and additional ways to generate and capitalize on data-driven insights and analytics.

You’ll spend time in the following:

Tackling key challenges in talent and work measurement:

Mapping and standardizing job skills:

Critically examining our current taxonomy of occupations and skills in order to create, review, and/or improve our taxonomy of job occupations/roles and workplace skills
Developing strategies and algorithms to map skills across diverse data sources (tests, assessments, job descriptions etc.).

Ensuring consistent taxonomies, vocabulary and accurate analysis.

Developing a view/model of job success:

Leveraging job analysis and performance metrics to identify measurable indicators of successful performance for different roles.

Utilizing data science and psychometric tools to predict candidate success in specific roles.

Connecting job and talent measurements:

Developing algorithms and frameworks to align individual skills and abilities with the requirements of specific roles.

Designing and implementing reliable and valid assessment tools for evaluating candidate suitability for different positions.

Adapting job measurement and talent assessment methods to new technologies, work trends, and organizational structures.

Mitigating bias and explainability:

Supporting initiatives to de-bias algorithms and provide interpretable explanations for insights.

Developing explainable AI models and avoiding “black box” algorithms

Promoting inclusion, fairness and transparency in talent assessment.

Supporting innovation and enhancing talent assessment:

Identifying and deploying data-driven solutions:

Leveraging AI/ML, new technologies, and research to improve our competitive edge.

Conducting robust research studies to validate measurement methods and improve person-job matching accuracy.

Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to analyze problems and offer solutions.

Validating data-driven decision making:

Performing in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive actionable recommendations and communicate certainty of findings that inform better talent decisions.

Navigating the evolving landscape:

Staying informed about evolving legal regulations of AI hiring tools.

Contributing to discussions on platform liability and ethical use.

Leveraging domain expertise:

Collaborating with subject matter experts to interpret skill data accurately.

Providing actionable insights for customers.

Sharing insights and best practices through internal and external thought leadership.
