An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Motor Underwriting Team as a Motor Underwriting Lead.
As part of the Motor Technical Underwriting team you will be working alongside the Motor Department to deliver sustainable and profitable growth within our Motor business. You will be part of the team that are responsible for managing our underwriting strategy including our risk appetite and guidance and training to empower our people with the knowledge and advice to underwrite these products.
This role can be performed remotely, but given the nature of the role there will be a need to visit our Halifax offices at times.
What will I be doing?
- Driving change within our Underwriting appetite and guidance by identifying trends, opportunities for growth and to effectively manage our loss ratio.
- Provide technical input to projects on emerging risks, new technologies and new vehicles
- Understanding changes within the Motor market to ensure that our proposition continues to meet the changing needs of our customers and business.
- Providing technical expertise through the management of the training and guidance, system specifications and underwriting guides.
- To act as a referral point within authority on underwriting and related issues, including reinsurance, non-disclosure and referrals
- Provide insight and commentary on technical wordings ensuring that the intention is reflected in the technical wording and that key risks are adequately addressed and/or highlighted
- Collaborate and communicate changes, new initiatives and project progress to colleagues, regions and all stakeholders and engage other areas of Covea’s business.
You should apply if you have…
- Strong understanding of the Motor insurance market and of motor vehicles and technology
- Good understanding of underwriting principals and rating/pricing methodology
- Ability to write policy wordings and endorsements
- Experience of effectively managing workloads and prioritisation
- Strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to work to a deadline
- Ability to create efficient underwriting and process decisions
- Ability to work closely and collaboratively with other commercial and personal lines areas
- Dip CII with progress towards ACII or equivalent
