We are looking for an experienced Cloud Operations Technical Team Lead to manage our cloud infrastructure, ensuring a secure, reliable, scalable, and cost-effective platform. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in cloud platforms, automation, monitoring, and incident management, combined with experience in leading technical teams.

From day 1, you’ll be able to contribute to the Covéa Insurance purpose which is ‘To help people protect against the worst happening and put it right if it does’.

The role is a hybrid role, therefore will involve a mix of working from home and from our Halifax office.

What will I be doing?

  • Overseeing cloud operations, strategy, & account management to support needs for Covéa
  • Collaborating with broader teams to strengthen & unify DevOps capabilities in line with a unified strategy, & to support product development
  • Promoting quality & best practices in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) & DevOps methodologies
  • Aligning technology & support practices with stakeholders across departments
  • Providing guidance on architecture, design, coding standards, & security
  • Managing configuration, resource allocation, compliance, & performance optimization
  • Developing & maintaining technical documentation
  • Representing Covéa externally at meetups & recruitment events
  • Building knowledge of the insurance industry, whilst staying updated on new technologies to aid continuous development

You should apply if you have…

  • Experience with AWS; Azure & other major cloud platforms
  • Expertise in building scalable, high-performance cloud architectures for business-critical applications & translating these visions into plans for development
    teams
  • Experience managing & supporting highly available, business-critical software in the public cloud
  • Experience leading or guiding teams & delivering successful projects; encouraging a learning environment where individuals are encouraged to excel,
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD, & automated workflows; exposure to machine learning/big data tools (e.g., Databricks, Kubeflow)
  • Commitment to securing & implementing coding standards & practices, static code analysis, & non-functional testing to enhance software security & resilience
  • Proactively plans to achieve targets & deliver profitable outcomes whilst continuously improving service quality in collaboration with other business areas
  • A Level or equivalent education, & CCNP, JNCIA-Junos, F5 (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with technology refreshes and migrations, and supporting large-scale WANs
