The US Federal Governments Markets Division is chartered with being the premier, compliant supplier of world-class communications solutions to the U.S. Federal Government by providing the highest quality products, systems and services. The USFGMD will achieve this with a professional, well-trained, diverse workforce creating a positive and profitable customer relationship resulting in Total Customer Satisfaction and growth of our business.

The Federal Systems Technology department of the USFGMD is responsible for service supporting a charter of implementing and integrating complex systems sold worldwide to the US Federal Government. As a USFGMD Systems Technologist, you will be exposed to a wide variety of communications requirements in both the Presale and Post Sale phases of a project. These applications span the entire breadth of the US Federal Government throughout the world.

Navy ELMR is geographically the largest, most complex ASTRO system in the world. The System Technologist position is based in Silverdale, WA supporting multiple NAVAL installations throughout Northwest Washington.

  • The role includes, but is not limited to: monthly patch updates to NICE loggers,
  • MCC7500 console maintenance within a 911 dispatch environment, RF site maintenance/optimization/expansion, site UPS maintenance, R56 grounding inspections, antenna system sweeping and analysis, LAN and WAN troubleshooting, and moving/lifting heavy equipment >50lbs.
  • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
  • Open and manage cases with the Motorola Solutions System Support Center (SSC).
  • Deliver knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).
  • Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.

Responsibilities:

  • Extensive verbal and written communication within the NAVY ELMR team.
  • Implementing patching updates as provided by the Motorola Solutions ASTRO Security Update Service.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot patching-related problems in a dynamic, high-stress environment on an ASTRO 2022 system.
  • Some travel of up to 25% annually may be required.
  • Strong organization skills and a high attention to detail.\
  • Proficient with Windows 10, Windows Server 2012, and Active Directory.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to obtain DoD Secret-level clearance as required.
  • Required to complete standard form 86 questionnaire for national security positions.
  • Demonstrated experience working in IT production environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple concurrent responsibilities of varying priorities and shift focus from one to another with minimal loss of productivity or work quality.
  • 2+ years in IT, networking, technician, field service, system technician/specialist.
  • Must be in possession of Comp TIA Security+ certification or be cable of obtaining within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Must be in possession of minimum ETA CET-a certification or be capable of obtaining within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to use and demonstration MS applications, Google email, and software tools.
  • At least 2 + years of Networking (Wide and Local Area Networks) experience. Education or work experience may be substituted.
  • Excellent knowledge and demonstration of hardware and software tools.
  • Experience with ESXi VMware virtualization suites.
  • Experience with McAfee suite of security products.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain background clearance as required by US government customers.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position

Desired Qualifications

  • Comp TIA Network+, MCSE, and CISSP certifications.
  • Experience with Host Based Security Systems (HBSS)
  • Experience with CAC/PIV authentication based systems.
  • Working knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) theory.
  • Experience with firewalls and security related applications.
  • 2 years’ experience hands-on with Motorola ASTRO technology including Zone Core, ASTRO Networking, Microsoft Active Directory, McAfee security suite, MCC7500 dispatch consoles, NICE Logging etc.

**Ability to obtain a security clearance within 18 months of start date**

The base salary range for this position in Washington is $75,000 – $80,000.

  • Associates Degree and 1+ years of experience OR 2+ years of experience with one or more of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency,  Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Patching, Electronic, Networking Equipment, IP Networking, Solutions Architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, or Military experience
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain background clearance as required by US government customers.
