HNW Underwriter

We’re on the lookout for a HNW Underwriter to join our HNW Team.

The purpose of the role will be to actively contribute and assist the HNW department in achieving the budgeted new business GWP, retention and rate strength targets, whilst providing first class service.

This role can be performed remotely, but there may be a need to visit our Halifax and West Malling offices from time to time.

What will I be doing?

  • To manually underwrite quotations, transact new business, underwrite renewals & adjustments, and issue documentation accurately.
  • To prospect and actively contribute to the profitability & retention targets of the HNW department.
  • Have a good understanding of the impact of claims & risk management on the performance of a risk and demonstrate an ability to underwrite taking these factors into account.
  • To prove own technical competence in handling mid & high net worth cases in accordance with Covéa’s guidelines/risk appetite and within limits of authority
  • To manage own portfolio of work in accordance with agreed service, technical, output standards, accuracy & TCF requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships. Provide feedback to relevant individuals on account performance and undertake external visits, review meetings and social events when required, ensuring any actions captured, recorded and shared accordingly
  • Ensure an excellent working knowledge of all HNW products, procedures, underwriting guides and Management Information is achieved. Offering suggestions and input into the shaping of products and risk appetite
  • Actively support and promote new lead generations.
  • Actively support projects taking responsibility for areas of expertise.

  • Have proven experience within HNW or Personal Lines insurances.
  • Are able to work collaboratively with other HNW teams.
  • Have the ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external parties.
  • Have strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to work to a deadline
  • Have effective communication skills
  • Have strong MI and analytical skills.
  • Have the ability to act as a coach/mentor.
  • Cert CII or working towards Dip CII qualifications.
