Manager, Software Engineering

We are looking for a Manager, Software Engineering – Strategy Products to join our team! In this role you will help work as a liaison between the Strategy Products Organization inclusive of product and content, and the broader engineering organization to ensure a strong technology strategy, architecture, and work to meet a high-performance bar for our work together as a team and our deliveries to product and ultimately customers.

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in computer science, software engineering, or a related field or related experience.
  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • 3 years leading technology teams

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Lead and direct the activities of teams in the Strategy Products Organization
  • Define and communicate strategic initiatives at the department-level and provide input on strategic initiatives for the organization.
  • Lead and direct the work of an area to achieve objectives with significant contribution towards the achievement of short-term and mid-term results for the Strategy Products team
  • Create and drive a clear vision for the department, planning for the long-term success of the organization.
  • Applies technical knowledge to development of products and processes and identifies additional value-added opportunities related to specific projects.
  • Proposes, develops, reviews and revises new procedures as needed for the continuing development of high-quality systems.
  • Provides technical mentoring to other team members.
  • Executes department processes and policies. Participates in the creation, implementation and administration of departmental policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Serves as an internal consultant on specific projects outside of team or department.
  • Provides innovative suggestions and recommendations for new projects based upon technical and product knowledge.
  • Maintains knowledge of state-of-the-art technology to incorporate new developments into products.
  • Proposes technical advances and evaluates new hardware / software for company use.
  • Manually tests and unit tests all assigned applications.
  • Writes application and system technical documentation.

Technology Leadership:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the technology team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Develop and execute the technology roadmap, aligning it with the company’s overarching strategic goals and objectives.

Data Architecture and Governance:

  • Help define and maintain a robust data architecture that ensures the collection, storage, and analysis of data adhere to industry best practices and data privacy regulations.

Innovation and Research:

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data analytics, and healthcare.
  • Drive research and development initiatives to create cutting-edge solutions that address industry challenges and advance the use of Strategy Products.

Team Management:

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing technology team, providing guidance and professional development opportunities to team members.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth within the technology department.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effectiveness in technology initiatives related to Strategy Products.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners to ensure technology initiatives align with business goals and client needs in the context of the Strategy Products Organization.

AI, Innovation and Research:

  • Challenge how we deliver our Strategy Products and provide a deeper understanding of our data through the use of AI
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data analytics and healthcare.
  • Drive research and development initiatives to create cutting-edge solutions that address industry challenges and advance the use of our products

About the Team

You will be part of the Strategy Products Organization & Startup, which is part of the Life Science & Healthcare team at Clarivate.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, primarily working core business hours in your time zone, with flexibility to adjust to various global time zones as needed.
