The opportunity:

This position in the National Accounts Employee Benefits Underwriting organization is responsible for all aspects of risk selection, pricing and proposal for our Group Disability and Life insurance new business and/or renewals for 2,000+ lives.  Apply standard underwriting principles and procedures to evaluate, rate and negotiate price on new business.  Apply in depth knowledge of assigned product lines and independent decision making within underwriting policies and procedures.

How you will contribute:

  • Evaluate, price, propose rate and strategy to acquire and renew National Account clients
  • In-depth risk assessment and pricing of prospective and inforce customers in conformance with underwriting guidelines and authority limits
  • Provide Customer reporting and analytics
  • Partner with sales, national accounts practice leader and home office subject matter experts to develop comprehensive pricing and solutions for our customers
  • Recommend changes in policies and procedures to be more responsive to the emerging client and market needs
  • Proactively manage inforce block of business to maintain profit and persistency expectations
  • Mentoring and underwriter development

What you will bring with you:

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • Require a minimum of 5+ years of group underwriting experience
  • Highly skilled in both written and verbal communications, organization, time/work management, establishing interpersonal relationships, and problem solving
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and flex to changing demands including system and process changes
  • Motivated, positive, team player
  • Proficient PC skills, including Excel skills,  and word processing applications
  • The position requires strong analytical and negotiation skills, as well as an in-depth understanding of industry contractual language and provisions
  • Candidates should possess a high level, technical understanding of underwriting principles and theory

If you are a California resident, the salary range for this position is:

  • Southern region: $82,300 – $123,500 annually
  • Central region: $86,800 – $130,200 annually
  • Northern region: $92,700 – $139,100 annually

If you are a Minnesota, Colorado or Nevada resident, the salary range for this position is $78,600 – $117,900 annually

If you are a Connecticut or Maryland resident, the salary range for this position is $82,300 – $123,500 annually

If you are a New York resident, the salary range for this position is $92,700 – $139,100 annually.

If you are Washington or Rhode Island resident, the salary range for this position is $86,800 – $130,200 annually.

We consider various factors in determining actual pay including your skills, qualifications, and experience.  In addition to salary, this position is eligible for incentive awards based on individual and business performance as well as a broad range of competitive benefits.
