Principal Architect, Platform Product Design (USA)

Salesforce

At Salesforce, our UX teams aspire to make products people love – tools that make a salesperson’s day more productive, a marketer’s campaign more powerful, a developer’s app more intelligent and feature-rich, and so much more. You’ll have the opportunity to shape Salesforce’s platform product strategy, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to bring your enterprise experience vision to life. This role will craft the user experience in ways that solve meaningful problems, design with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility, and make life better for all users and customers.

As a seasoned Principal Architect, you’ll be an executive-level, hands-on leader creating a vision for enabling the success of our customers. Behind each product is a talented cross-functional team, driven by the power of design to build integrated and ethical experiences that support strong relationships for our users and their customers. You will help build connective tissue across product spaces, identifying opportunities and creating concepts that lead to more unified experiences. You will be a thought leader at the crossroads of artificial intelligence and developer experience, creating new design paradigms, architectures, and patterns.

We are looking for a candidate that has: a proven track record of delivering phenomenal customer-centric enterprise experiences at scale, a deep dedication to design craft, a passion for innovating in technical design spaces, and unbridled curiosity.

Experience / Skills Required:

  • 10+ years experience designing and delivering products from start to finish as part of a cross-functional team. This is an executive-level individual contributor role, equivalent to a Vice President.
  • Exceptional ability to influence others, iteratively explore & experiment with ideas, and build consensus on fast-moving projects with varying degrees of ambiguity
  • Systems thinking; ability to step back and see a project’s larger ecosystem, with a focus on solutions that improve not just one feature but the entire user flow
  • Ability to distill and reframe problems, then define a framework for resolution, generating clear, elegant solutions for complex challenges
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design methods and best practices
  • The ability to thrive in a collaborative, agile environment while producing great design work on tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and active listening skills, with an ability to build and develop close, trusting relationships
  • Experience using multiple approaches, including analytics and user research, to drive decisions and develop product iterations
  • Self-motivation; ability to produce results both independently and as part of a team
  • Expert knowledge of current design tools such as Figma, along with an ability to quickly learn new tools as they emerge

Responsibilities

  • Drive company-scale design initiatives that include multiple cross-disciplinary contributors
  • Effectively collaborate with senior executive stakeholders
  • Set the vision and architecture for a product’s multi-release experience, articulate it clearly and convincingly, and guide the team through implementation
  • Using documentation, reviews, and presentations, communicate clear and compelling ideas to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Serve as a bridge connecting design, product, engineering, and marketing teams
  • Work closely with product owners, engineers, other designers, and user research to create direction for the product area
  • Collaborate within the design team on systemic initiatives such as evolving our design system, our mobile design strategy, and our prototyping process
  • Promote and educate others on new interface guidelines and design patterns
  • Actively mentor other designers and contribute to our design community
  • Create inclusive experiences for all users. Advocate for accessibility, encouraging product and engineering management to innovate inclusively and prioritize accessible features
