Job Summary:

Independence American Insurance Company (IAIC) is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst who will analyze and evaluate the likelihood of future events to reduce and manage future financial risks. The Senior Actuarial Analyst will contribute to product pricing and rate filings for our pet insurance products. They will also provide analysis and innovative solutions, communicating results to help guide decision making.

Job Location: Remote work is not available in AK, MT, HI (US)

Main Responsibilities:

  • Completes and interprets actuarial analysis, valuations, cost estimates, and modeling using mathematics, statistical programming, and financial theory.
  • Assists with the completion of rate filing documents for all states.
  • Researches rate filings, as needed.
  • Maintains and updates existing models, tools, and other files used for analysis.
  • May prepare reserving, forecasting, rate filings, pricing analysis, and experience reports for review.
  • Completes ad hoc reporting, as necessary.
  • Completes appropriate database work, as necessary.
  • Duties are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.
  • Possesses and applies broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to the completion of difficult assignments.
  • Develops complex actuarial models.
  • Interprets rate objects and prepares responses and rating support.
  • Interprets rate regulations and applies them appropriately to rating development and support.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics, Accounting, Computer Information Systems, other quantitative field, or equivalent work experience (One-year relevant experience is equivalent to one-year college)
  • 4 years’ relevant experience
  • Licenses/Certifications: Must have passed Four+ Actuarial Exams
