What We’re Looking For:
WP Engine is seeking a Senior Email Marketing Manager to lead the strategy and execution of email marketing campaigns for our Global Acquisition team. This role will serve as the email marketing Subject Matter Expert (SME) and will directly influence both strategy and implementation of acquisition campaigns. You will own the email marketing program which is a shared services function and supports other teams within the organization like agency marketing, content, brand and demand generation. The role is responsible for driving growth in customer acquisition through well-executed email campaigns for both our Sales-Assisted and Self-Serve selling motions. Our Sales Assisted Selling Motions are optimized for lead generation and support the mid-market/enterprise market segments and Self Serve Selling Motions are optimized for purchase and support SMB our market segment .
Core Responsibilities:
- Email Strategy & Execution: Develop, execute, and optimize comprehensive email marketing strategies, including campaign development for Self Serve (Retail) email marketing, and targeting, personalization, segmentation, and deployment of Sales Assisted email campaigns(nurture series).
- Trigger & Automated Campaign Management: Manage and own creation and optimization of all trigger campaigns for sales assisted and self serve marketing campaigns.
- Testing & Optimization: Lead the continuous testing of email campaigns, using a data-driven approach to improve key metrics such as open rates, CTR, and conversions. Develop a rigorous testing agenda for both existing programs and net-new initiatives.
- Campaign Analysis: Showcase Strong understanding of email attribution. Regularly assess email campaign performance using data to provide insights and actionable recommendations. Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Campaign Operations to track and report on key metrics.
- Automation & Segmentation: Enhance and expand email automation workflows, ensuring accurate segmentation and targeting. Work with the Marketing Technology team to maintain and improve data flows and ensure API connections are properly managed.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Creative, Demand Generation Managers, and Content teams to deliver compelling, high-performing email campaigns that align with broader acquisition goals.
- Calendar & Production Management: Own the email marketing calendar and oversee the production team to ensure timely execution of all email campaigns and troubleshoot any technical issues related to templates, segmentation, or deliverability.
- Industry Best Practices: Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in email marketing, including GDPR compliance and deliverability.
Parership with Campaign Operations Manager:
This role will partner closely with the Campaign Operations Manager to ensure seamless execution of email marketing initiatives. The Senior Email Marketing Manager will focus on the strategic direction, content development, program management, and performance analysis of email campaigns, while the Campaign Operations Manager will handle the operational setup, technical execution, and optimization of the marketing automation infrastructure. Together, both roles will collaborate on:
- Campaign Execution: Developing campaigns and ensuring campaigns are launched smoothly and efficiently by aligning operational workflows with strategic priorities.
- Data-Driven Insights: Sharing insights and data to refine targeting, segmentation, and automation strategies, driving overall campaign performance.
- Optimization & Testing: Collaborating on A/B testing frameworks and growth experiments, ensuring continuous improvement in email marketing performance.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Working together with other teams (Demand Gen, Product, Creative, Business Intelligence, and other teams ) to deliver cohesive campaigns that meet business objectives.
How You’ll Measure Success:
- Customer Acquisition Growth: Drive measurable growth in customer acquisition for both Sales-Assisted and Self-Serve selling motions through email marketing.
- Performance Targets: Achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual targets for key performance metrics such as open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates.
- Optimization & Impact: Consistently launch and optimize email campaigns to ensure continuous improvement in engagement and conversion rates.
Required Skills:
- Email Marketing Expertise: 5 – 6+ years of experience in email marketing, with a strong background in both B2B and B2C organizations.
- Technical Proficiency: Hubspot email marketing certification required, Strong familiarity and usage of Salesforce CRM & GA4 (certification preferred but not required)
- Data-Driven Approach: Demonstrated ability to analyze campaign performance, interpret data, and make informed decisions based on insights.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple campaigns simultaneously and familiarity with project management tools Asana & Jira.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to shifting priorities, and drive results.

Base Salary Range
$104,000.00 – $156,000.00
We believe that compensation should be reflective of the impact you have within the organization relative to the market value of your role. The estimated base salary range for this position is as listed above. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Our salary ranges are determined by job role and responsibilities and level.
