About the role

As a B2B Solutions Engineer at Shopify, you will play a critical role in bridging technical gaps, enabling our sales and partnerships teams to showcase how high-growth, high-volume, and complex B2B merchants can leverage Shopify to accelerate their business growth. You will consult on e-commerce technology stacks and business objectives, offering expert guidance on optimising and expanding with the Shopify platform and ecosystem, as well as advising on best practices for complex integrations to ensure long-term success.

B2B Solutions Engineers serve as ambassadors of the Shopify product and as trusted advisors to both prospects and merchants.

This position involves engaging with prospects and merchants both remotely and on-site, and supporting community events. You will work closely with large Shopify prospects within the Greater China Region (GCR), playing a crucial role in providing insights and feedback to Shopify’s Product and Engineering teams.

This is a remote position focusing on supporting merchants and driving growth for businesses in China. You will engage directly with Chinese merchants, their technical teams, and our partners to conduct high-level, solutions-focused discussions regarding the Shopify platform, leveraging your native Chinese language skills and cultural knowledge to ensure a smooth transition to Shopify.

This position reports directly to the APAC Solutions Engineering Lead.

Requirements for the role:

  • Relevant experience in the craft—or a closely related craft—of solutions engineering.
  • Expertise in B2B commerce, Shopify, and regional-specific B2B commerce applications, ecosystems, and integrations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to resolving challenges.
  • A commitment to experimentation, continuous learning, and educating our enterprise customers, partner agencies, and internal teams.
  • Familiarity with web APIs and middleware development; front-end development experience is a plus.
  • A knack for tinkering with technology, exhibiting hands-on technical curiosity and the ability to develop minor solutions or prototypes without seeking to write code daily.
  • A genuine concern for the success of our stakeholders and customers.
  • Native or fluent in Mandarin, with business-level proficiency in English.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate closely with sales executives as part of a dynamic duo and coordinate with partner teams across multiple channels.
  • Advise merchants and their development partners on technical solutions to ensure optimal business success on the Shopify platform.
  • Develop and deliver customised product demos and proof of concepts for both live and recorded virtual client demonstrations.
  • Explore and implement innovative development methods on the platform, and own technical discussions with stakeholders.
  • Mentor and coach sales team members on the technical aspects of Shopify to enhance their knowledge and effectiveness.
  • Act as an advocate and trusted advisor for merchants, using your insights and expertise to inform and influence product team decisions.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to product and engineering teams to propel continuous platform improvement.
  • Engage with industry stakeholders to gather market insights and strengthen Shopify’s ecosystem partnerships.
