The Sales Engineer serves as an important part of Staples’ go-to-market strategy, working with new customers to ensure a positive onboarding experience, build programs and craft solutions designed to meet their needs, and serve as a subject matter expert and support resource for our business development organization.
- Lead onboarding effort for large, newly-won customers in partnership with business development counterparts
- Execute implementations in accordance with Staples’ onboarding playbook, leveraging strong project management skills to ensure timely execution of all tasks, both those to be performed by the Sales Engineer or by cross-functional stakeholders
- Drive internal and customer-facing project calls, interacting with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure a successful implementation
- Serve as the primary support resource to business developers to coordinate non-selling & support activities that arise during the course of an implementation
- Serves as subject matter expert on Staples’ program & eCommerce offerings and capabilities to build customer programs, using understanding of customer needs to craft simple, scalable program solutions
- Drive customer needs discovery and program & support requirements gathering in tandem with Staples’ business development team
- Monitors win ramp and coordinates win/ramp activities post-implementation in partnership with sales counterparts to ensure customer ramps to forecasted revenue and profitability
What You Bring to the Table
- Experience in Sales or Project Management
- Excellent organization skills, written and verbal communications, and an attention to detail
- Ability to interact with key contacts at Director/VP level at large, enterprise customers
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 2 years in Sales or Project Management
- Experience working with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access)
- Ability to travel on demand
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of customer set up including punchout, hosted file, and direct SBA.com customers
- Experience with Staples systems including Contract Gateway, Customer Set Up, Sunrise, SBA.com, and the various test environments
