ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF):
The Check & Deposits Strategies Manager works under the guidance of the Fraud Models, Strategies and Business Intelligence leader responsible for setting the strategy and risk mitigation practices and team for all KeyBank activities in check and deposit transactions. The leader will work closely with Fraud Modeling to set model thresholds and craft strategies in the check/deposit spaces to mitigate risk associated with fraud. Additionally, will partner with the business/product owners, fraud operations, risk, and compliance to own the overall strategy in this space. This role is responsible for providing frameworks and tools, reporting, advising on best practices, and driving stakeholder engagement across all elements of check & deposit fraud. Will serve in a consultative role providing guidance on best practices and procedures.
- Working knowledge of payments processing rules, Reg CC, Universal Commercial Code (UCC), ECCHO, and Actimize or other fraud management platforms
- Demonstrated fraud knowledge with proven experience developing fraud rules for fraud attack trends with attention to detail for implementation of rules into a production environment that minimizes mistakes in rule logic.
- Proven ability to effectively decrease losses based on new strategies and rule implementation.
- Demonstrated capability with at least one or more analytics products with demonstrated skill to build complex queries into big data environments using approved low impact to technology environment tools.
- Analytical tool experience such as Google Cloud, SAS and Python.
- Ability to lead a team of analysts.
Responsibilities
- A key part of the role will be regularly providing active and guiding consultation to business partners and other stakeholders on best methods of leveraging analytics and fraud strategies to reduce gross fraud while maintaining a world class customer experience for KeyBank customers.
- Perform sophisticated fraud analyses and strategy support using advanced analytics & data science tools to provide actionable insights and real-time changes to fraud detection tools that improve business outcomes and minimize fraud risk.
- This role will actively support multiple real-time fraud detection rule systems where the role will be actively involved with building, developing, and demonstrating a mastery of check & deposit fraud.
- The Leader guides the development and optimization of fraud mitigation controls within our framework of tools to ensure the business meets or exceeds Fraud Loss goals while supporting business growth targets.
- The Leader defines and measures through insight and statistical analysis existing and future mitigation opportunities as part of the decision and development process.
- The Leader must measure and monitor fraud performance for the purpose of statistically quantifying risk and opportunity.
- Proactively takes initiative to organize, lead, and coach new peers, and team members in support of growing the overall fraud, and/or analytical techniques and knowledge base, works closely with Fraud Modeling and Analytics on strategies.

Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Financial Mathematics, Statistics, or the Natural Sciences and 4 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Financial Mathematics, Statistics, or the Natural Sciences and 6 years of relevant experience
• Advanced proficiency with:
o Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint
o Query writing/coding including complex joins
o Data visualization
o Analytical programming languages
• Understanding of:
o Source systems
o Process flow and automation
• Skill & Ability to:
o Work with big data
o Navigate data warehouse and/or data supply chain
Preferred Qualifications:
Check/Deposit Fraud Strategy Leadership experience is preferred.
Fraud Strategy subject matter expert attending industry-related forums and events.
Prior experience leading a team of fraud strategy experts.

Key has implemented a role-based Mobile by Design approach to our employee workspaces, dedicating space to those whose roles require specific workspaces, while providing flexible options for roles which are less dependent on assigned workspaces and can be performed effectively in a mobile environment. As a result, this role may be mobile or home based, which means you may work either at a home office or in a Key facility to perform your job duties. If located near a KeyBank location, the position in the future may work partially from a Key facility. If not located near a Key facility, team will consider remote workers.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $92,00.00 to $135,000.00 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
